[Case 03]

Agachados Restaurant: 30% Faster Booking Times

Food

Agachados: Reserva, come y bebe

Redesigning the information architecture for a more intuitive dining experience

[Project Overview]

Agachados had no dedicated website prior to this project, relying exclusively on social media to attract customers and manage reservations. While the restaurant had built a strong local reputation, its digital presence lacked a centralized platform where visitors could explore the concept, menu, and booking options.

The project focused on designing the restaurant's first website, combining a strong editorial visual identity with a conversion-driven user experience. By restructuring the information architecture, prioritizing key user journeys, and making reservations accessible throughout the experience, the website became both a storytelling platform and a business tool.

[Problem Statement]

The restaurant depended almost entirely on social media posts to generate reservations. While this approach attracted attention, users often lacked the information needed to confidently book a table, forcing them to navigate through scattered content or contact the restaurant directly.

Without a dedicated website, there was no structured customer journey, no centralized presentation of the restaurant's concept, and no clear conversion path. The challenge was to transform social media traffic into qualified visitors by creating a digital experience that communicated the brand, simplified decision-making, and encouraged users to complete a reservation.

[Goal]

Discover the restaurant's concept before making a reservation.

Explore the menu and atmosphere to decide if it's worth visiting.

Reserve a table quickly from any device.

[Frustrations]

Restaurants that only provide information through Instagram posts.

Unclear reservation processes or missing booking links.

Websites that don't communicate the restaurant's personality or dining experience.

[Process]

[01] User Research

Conducted semi-structured interviews with 8 participants to understand how they discover restaurants and what influences their reservation decisions.

Analyzed the restaurant's existing digital presence, focusing on social media behavior and common customer questions.

Reviewed competitor websites to identify best practices in restaurant storytelling, navigation, and reservation flows.

[02] Insights

Most users discovered the restaurant through Instagram but struggled to find essential information in one place.

Visitors wanted to understand the restaurant's concept, menu, and atmosphere before committing to a reservation.

The absence of a dedicated website created unnecessary friction, reducing confidence and limiting online bookings.

[03 Design Solution]

Designed the restaurant's first website around a storytelling-first information architecture, guiding users from discovery to reservation.

Prioritized reservations by introducing clear call-to-action buttons and consistent booking opportunities throughout the experience.

Combined editorial photography, immersive visuals, and concise content to strengthen the restaurant's identity while supporting conversion.

[04] Testing & Iteration

Conducted usability sessions to validate navigation, content hierarchy, and the reservation journey.

Refined page structure and content organization based on participant feedback to reduce cognitive load.

Optimized the experience for mobile devices, ensuring fast access to key information and a frictionless reservation flow.

[Outcome]

30% increase in online reservations.
52% increase in website traffic during the first three months after launch.
41% reduction in time to complete a reservation.

[Key Learnings]

Simplification drives conversion

Removing friction and prioritizing the reservation flow proved more valuable than adding new features.

Storytelling builds confidence

Presenting the restaurant's concept before asking users to book increased trust and encouraged reservations.

Design creates business value

A clear information architecture transformed social media traffic into measurable reservations, proving that UX can directly support business growth.
